Overview
Description
The Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, which straddles the Udupi and Shimoga districts, comprises lush wet evergreen and moist deciduous forests, forming an important wildlife corridor that is contiguous with the Agumbe Reserve Forest, Kudremukh National Park, and other protected areas. The resulting biodiversity is rich and varied, from big cats and a range of birds to a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and insects.
The forest is also a butterfly lover’s paradise, something we will make full advantage of during this tour. Not only will we get the chance to see and photograph these beautiful creatures, but the data we collect will also contribute to their conservation, and eventually the conservation of their habitat.
The southern coastal end of Karnataka is a region of rich history, with many of the places even finding themselves in the writings of ancient Greece, coupled with a mixed ethnic diversity that has resulted in a rich culture. Along with this rich culture, the region is also home to ample biodiversity.
