Overview
Hakhezhe village is situated in Niuland Circle of Dimapur district in Nagaland. It is located 8km away from the sub-district headquarters in Nuiland and 25 km away from the district headquarters in Dimapur. In recent years, there has been a notable shift in the congregation of Amur Falcons from the Pangti area to this village. While a considerable number of Amur Falcons are still observed in Pangti, Hakheze has become more accessible. In November last year, almost a million Amur Falcons were reported from this village.
Kaziranga National Park was established in order to protect the population of the Indian Rhinoceros. A conservation success story, Kaziranga is now home to the largest population of Indian Rhinoceros, hosting two-thirds of the world’s population of this threatened species. It is also home to a high density of Royal Bengal Tigers, as well as other mammals such as Asian Elephant, Wild Water Buffalo, Swamp Deer, and many more. Kaziranga is also home to many bird species, including the Swamp Francolin, Pin-striped Tit-Babbler, and many more.
The Holongapar Gibbon Sanctuary may be small, covering just 20.98 sq km, but it is home to seven unique primate species found in the region. Among them is the Hoolock Gibbon, which is the only ape species found in India. Additionally, the sanctuary is inhabited by Stump-tailed Macaques, Pig-tailed Macaques, Assamese Macaques, Rhesus Macaques, Capped Langurs, and Slow Lorises. Despite its size, the sanctuary also serves as a favorable habitat for various bird species.
Please Note: Key species are the ones we expect and the region is good for them but there is no guarantee we will see all of them.
