The Eastern Himalaya region is teeming with biodiversity and home to some of the larger protected areas of India. Namdapha, the Mishmi Hills, and Dibru-Saikhowa are among the best places in Northeast India to spot the rare habitat-specialized birds of this region.

Arrive at Delhi Airport. You will be met by an Asian Adventures representative and transferred to your hotel. You have the rest of the day at leisure.

Fly from New Delhi to Mohanbari Airport at Dibrugarh. If the flight is on time we will spend some time at Bherjan Wildlife Sanctuary to see some birds and primates.

Today we will drive to Namdapha Tiger Reserve via Miao (5-6 hours). At Debian, we will look out for the Beautiful and Long-tailed Sibias. Here we will spend the night at Debian in tents or at a rest house.

Visit the Burma Nallah Road, and Noa Dihing River. Trek 4-5 hours each day to Haldibari, Hornbill, Bulbula, and Rani Jheel.

We will spend the early morning birding near Motijheel and then drive to Tinsukia for an overnight stay.

Proceed to Saikhowa Ghat, where we need to ferry our jeep across the Lohit River. The journey will take you through splendid tea gardens.

The day starts with a 3.30 am wake-up call and you rise to the call of the Hoolock Gibbons. In this area, the sun rises early and also sets early. We bird the main road to Hunli and beyond where the habitat is so pristine, and a forest so dense, and with the forest-edges and scrub limited.

We leave by dawn, crossing the pass, and spend time birding in the valley. We continue birding down the road till evening.

We drive towards the In river bridge for some productive birding.

Today we start our drive back to Tinsukia, birding along the way. The Hoolock Gibbons here is India's only ape, restricted to the Northeast, and are highly endangered.

Today we will be birding in Dibru-Saikhowa Sanctuary which is only an hour away.

Bidding adieu to the Mishmi Hills we cross the Lohit again, to arrive at Dibrugarh to catch our flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to a local hotel for the evening.
