Overview
The five nights and six days tour is focused upon showing you the distinct lives of Orangutans living in the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo. The tour will kickstart with a short video showing the plight of Orangutan and the measures taken for the rehabilitation of these critically endangered species. We will traverse through the rain forest on wooden boardwalks to witness the behavior of Orangutans from close quarters, there will be umpteen opportunities to photograph them from various angles. We will also visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation and learn about the conservation of the world’s smallest bear. During the river cruise, you will experience the spectacular avian and faunal life supported by the rainforest

Arrive at Sandakan Airport (recommended flights to arrive are those with ETA before noon or 1300 hours.)
Meet the tour leader and transfer to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. We proceed to watch a video show about the plight of the Orangutans and the rehabilitation efforts ongoing at the Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of Orangutans that are undergoing rehabilitation at 1500 hr.
Transfer to Sabah Hotel for check in and stay overnight in Deluxe Rooms.

Visit Rainforest Discovery Centre in the morning.
Transfer to Sandakan jetty for 21⁄2 hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife.
We will join Vivek Menon today who would already be on his journey in Borneo tracking the Asian elephant and orang-utans.
Enjoy candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide presentation and interpretation by your guide.
Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.
Rainforest Lodge - accredited by National Geographic. It is one of the best lodges in Sukau. We will spend three full days at Sukau Rainforest Lodge located along Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. For two days we will go on river cruises using electric motor in search of wildlife and birds.

We will take an early Morning River cruise along the Menanggol River by silent electric motor in search of wildlife.
In the late afternoon, we will drive 27 km overland journey to the vicinity of Gomantong Cave. Traverse to the Gomantong Caves on a 15-minute boardwalk trail through the rainforest where we will witness the exodus of over two million bats, edible-nest swiftlets going in to the cave and raptors feeding on both!

Take a 0600 hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with our in-house naturalist.
After lunch, join our in house Orangutan Talk activity. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.
Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day at leisure with Vivek Menon. Understand the dynamics of how the ecosystem operates and indulge in meaningful discussions with him.
Go bird watching and photograph species around the lodge with him.

After breakfast, return to Sandakan by the boat journey. After lunch at Sandakan, we will proceed to the airport for the 1430 hr. flight to Kota Kinabalu.
For those taking the evening flight, we will have a chance for the complimentary tours to visit Rainforest Discovery Centre. Take a bird view of the centre from the canopy walk and hanging bridge, explore the botanical garden, home to various species of flora.
Or go to Sandakan Memorial Park for a short visit before taking the flight (recommended flight to depart after 1730 hr.) or drop-off at any hotel in Sandakan.
